Kenny Wayne Shephed Live @ Hawth Theatre Crawley 27/10/2014
The first time I went to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd play live was at The Islington Assembly Halls as part of Blues Fest 2013. Despite the fact that the audience were the strangest bunch of individuals ever assembled together in one room and I was exhausted after seeing Gov't Mule up in Manchester the night before - it was a really great show!
I was really looking forward to the band again in 2014 at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley. Kenny Wayne, the talented son-in-law of Actor Mel Gibson, has been playing blues guitar since childhood and is influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn amongst others.
The young British guitar prodigy, Laurence Jones, got everyone warmed up really well and when Kenny, Noah and the rest of the band hit the stage we were ready for some superb blues. The band did not disappoint - delivering a blistering set of tracks - some from the New Album Goin' Home - and many old favourites and overs too. Kenny's guitar playing was note perfect, and Noah's vocals as always, complimented all the riffs and melodies coming from his friends instrument. Just when we thought it couldnt get any better, Kenny pulled out his version of Vodoo Child as part of the encore which ended a great evening on a real rocking note.
if you've never seen Kenny Wayne Shepherd play live before and you are a blues fan, then
