Steve's had a long and illustrious career as a musician and has played with some big names including Lionel Ritchie, Peter Andre and Delta Goodrem. He's also released a Christmas Song to raise money for The Help For Heroes Charity.
As well as playing and writing music, he teaches guitar too. You can book and pay for a 45 min Skype lesson with him direct from his website www.steveyounguk.com - which we think is a great idea and a very innovative use of modern technology!
Between the years of 2007-2012 Steve toured with singer Darren Hayes - founder and front man of the Pop Duo Savage Garden, and eventually went on to co-write and play on Darren's latest album - Secret Codes & Battleships.
In 2012 Steve became Musical Director and co-founder of the Broadgrass Band fronted by the Actor Ramin Karimloo, better known for his theatre roles in Les Mis and Phantom. The Broadgrass Band was a fun and experimental Blues, Country, Bluegrass and Musical Theatre mash up. The band toured the USA, Asia & UK to great reviews and were awarded ‘Best Live Show 2013’ by Broadway World
In Oct 2014 Steve released his Debut EP – ‘Little Things’. Although he's written for artists all round the world this is the first time he has written just for himself and as the ‘Artist’
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve always been a hired musician and I’ve always wanted to do my own thing, but never got round to it. Then I was doing work on cruise ships and had some spare time on my hands. I started writing and it all came together.”
Little Things is inspired by Steve’s musical influences, which range from Johnny Cash to David Gray and George Ezra. Steve said: “I’m really happy with it and I’ve been getting lots of great feedback. These are all my own songs, all acoustic-based but it’s also ended up a bit poppish because I’ve been playing pop songs for a long time and it’s been engrained in my soul. I always try to make the songs in a way that people can relate to them and enjoy them.
Hiwever the music is also a bit folksy and bluesy too, so It’s a bit of everything.”
The EP’s title is taken from one of the tracks. Steve explained: “It started off with the tiniest little things, the smallest of ideas. I haven’t got a label and I’m putting it all out there myself. It’s all very new. I’ve never done this before but we will see what happens.”
The EP has received great reviews so far and has been sold all over world including Japan, Canada, USA, Australia, UK and Europe
In Nov 2014 Steve launched his EP with a run of live gigs & Radio interviews in New York City & Boston. This was then followed by similar launch gigs in the UK, plus interviews and performances on BBC Radio including the much acclaimed BBC Introducing.
Steve said: "BBC Essex and BBC Introducing were a blast. The EP Launch at The Bedford went down very well too. They have already booked me again for a full 40min Headline Slot on Tuesday June 2nd".
2015 will hopefully bring some festival appearances, gigs and more releases throughout the year.
