The Bunclark Children.

 

 

Charles Joseph Bunclark was born on 22 July 1886 at 145 Elderfield Road Clapton Park, London and was baptised on 10 October 1886.

 

In 1891 he was living in Bulls Lane, Finchley with his parents, Eliza & Joseph Bunclark ( a Draper) and his siblings, Lilian, Reginald & Grace. His paternal Grandmother Charlotte also lived with the family until her death.

 

In 1901 Charles was living at 37 Himley Road, Tooting Graveney, London with his parents and siblings. 15 year old Charles was working as an office boy/ Porter. His maternal grandmother Matilda was also living with them.

 

In 1911 Charles was living with his parents at at 76 Seymour Ave, Tottenham. His father Joseph was still working a Drapers Shop Assistant. Charles was now a clerk in a furniture store, his brother Reginald was a bank messenger & Cyril was a stockbrokers clerk.

 

On September 12th 1913 Charles married 24 year old Minnie Ellen Greenwood from Essex.

 

From 1916 to 1919 Charles was enlisted as a private in The Middllesex Regiment and served as a soldier during the first World War.

 

From 1921 to 1927 Charles and his wife lived at Chapel Road, Tadworth, Epsom Surrey.

 

53 year old Charles died on 21st December 1939 at Suttons Institution, Hornschurch Romford, Essex which later became St. Georges Hospital. 

 

Charles Henry Buncklark of 88 Bruce Avenue, Hornschurch died leaving his widow Minnie £447 9s 7d.

 

Minnie Bunclark died in Essex aged 54 in Jun 1943.

Cyril Bunclark

 

 

Cyril George Watts Bunclark was born on 19 June 1894 in East Finchley.

 

He attended Addington Street School from 28 August 1899.

 

In 1901 Cyril was living at 37 Himley Road, Tooting Graveney, London with his parents and siblings.

 

In 1911 16 year old Cyril was living with his parents at at 76 Seymour Ave, Tottenham and was working as a stockbrokers clerk.

 

He was still living at home with his parents at 50 Manor Rd Tottenham when he enlisted in the Army in 2 September 1914. 20 year old Cyril was a Private in The Norfolk Regiment, 8th Battalion. In his army records described him as 5ft 7 with a sallow complexion and Brown eyes & Hair. His religion is was Baptist.

 

The 8th Battalion, The Norfolk Regiment was raised at Norwich in September 1914 as part of Kitchener's Second New Army. The Division initially concentrated in the Colchester area but moved to Salisbury Plain in May 1915. They proceeded to France, landing at Boulogne on the 25th of July 1915, the division concentrated near Flesselles.

 

The 8th  Battalion was present on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on 1 July 1916. They got beyond their initial target and had by 5.00pm reached the German trenches known as "Montauban Alley". Over one hundred men and three officers had been killed.

 

They then went on to take part in  The Battle of Bazentin Ridge including the capture of Trones Wood, The Battle of Delville Wood, The Battle of Thiepval Ridge, and The Battle of the Ancre Heights playing a part in the capture of the Schwaben Redoubt and Regina Trench and The Battle of the Ancre.

 

Cyril was killed in action aged 22 on 19 July 1916. He earned the Victory Medal & War Medal & Star and is remembered at The Thiepval Memorial in France.

Reginald Bunclark

 

 

Reginald William Bunclark was born on  31 October 1888 at 145 Elderfield Road Clapton Park, London and was baptised on 10 October 1886.

 

In 1891 he was living in Bulls Lane, Finchley with his parents, Eliza & Joseph Bunclark ( a Draper) and his siblings, Lilian, Charles & Grace. His paternal Grandmother Charlotte also lived with the family until her death.

 

In 1901 13 year old Reginald was living at 37 Himley Road, Tooting Graveney, London with his parents and siblings.

 

In 1911 22 year old Reginald was living with his parents at at 76 Seymour Ave, Tottenham. Reginald was working as a bank messenger but later became a Carpenter.

 

On 27 March 1915 Reginald married Anna Irene Hunt in Tottenham just before he enlisted in the Army to fight during the 1st World War.

 

He gave his father's address - 2 Lynton Cottages, Manor Road Tottenham - when he joined up. He was part of the Pioneer Brigade of The Royal Engineers. Records decribe him as having scar on his left eyebrow and forehead. Reginald saw action in France and survived the war. He recieved the Victory Medal and the British War Medal in 1919.

 

Anna Irene Bunclark had been born in Edmonton in September 1891. In 1911 she was living at 58 Fairfield Rd, Edmonton with her father Joseph who was a Carpenter and her mother who was also called Anna. She was working as a Shirt Ironer in a factory. Her brother Walter was a Law Writer for a Stationer, her sister Lily worked in an Ammunitions factory and her sister Elsie was a shop Assistant for a Corn Chandler. They also had a lodger - Edna Clare a 31 year old Stage Actress from Birmingham.

Grace Bunclark

 

 

Grace Charlotte Bunclark was born in  December 1890 in Finchley London.

 

In 1891 she was living in Bulls Lane, Finchley with her parents, Eliza & Joseph Bunclark ( a Draper) and her siblings, Lilian, Charles & Reginald. Her paternal Grandmother Charlotte also lived with the family until her death.

 

In 1911 2o year old Grace was living with her parents at at 76 Seymour Ave, Tottenham and was working as a shop assistant at a Drapers ( Maybe in her father's shop???) .

 

In 1929 she was living at 50 Manor Road, Tottenham.

 

In 1931 her Mother Eliza and sister Glady's were livng with her and they continued to do so until 1937 when Grace moved to 18 Legard Road, Islington. She lived here alone for the duration of the 2nd World War until at least 1959.

 

She died in Essex in 1968.
